Where's Dad Been | Postcards From Dad

Who Is Dad?

Dad was born on a small farm in Meridian, Mississippi in 1940 where he learned the value of a hard day's work.
Later on, Dad moved to Alabama where he excelled as a member of his High School football team.

In 1962, Dad earned his degree in Archaeology from the University of Alabama.

After college, Dad enlisted in the Alabama National Guard, serving in the Special Forces for 6 years while he worked at a Sears in Birmingham. This is where he met Mom.

They were married in 1967.

Dad & Mom moved to Lexington, Kentucky in 1970 where Dad worked as a Sales Rep for Magic Chef Home Appliances

I entered the picture 3 years later, and shortly thereafter Dad purchased about 20 acres of land outside of Lexington.

Growing up on a farm was the best!

We raised cattle, corn, horses, and tobacco, a few rabbits and even a couple of be hives. Feeding the bees was probably my least favorite chore.

Dad sold our land in to Overbrook Farm in 1987. Their horse “Grindstone” won the Kentucky Derby in 1996

After retiring in 1998, Dad went to work perfecting his masterpiece. The Chocolate Bourbon Ball.

These days, Dad spends much of his time traveling and helping others in need. He has volunteered for a number of projects for Habitat for Humanity and God's Pantry from Ghana, Africa to New Orleans, LA following Hurricane Katrina.

Inspired by Dad’s generosity, Dad's "World Famous" Chocolate Bourbon Balls is a proud sponsor of The World Hospital Project. A not for profit organization that helps build much needed medical facilities for those in developing areas.
